Lybonic Defining Breakthrough

The DYD One-Step Catalyst

A revolutionary technology that replaces the conventional two-step biodiesel production process with a single, streamlined, and highly efficient reaction. This innovation is the product of more than twenty-five years of dedicated research and development led by Professor Ding Yidian, China’s foremost pioneer in biodiesel science.

As the holder of the world’s only patented single-step biodiesel synthesis process, Lybonic is uniquely positioned to transform waste oils into clean fuels at a scale and efficiency unmatched in the industry. By anchoring its international base in Hong Kong, the company serves as a bridge between Mainland innovation and global energy markets, offering solutions that align with both regional sustainability goals and international ESG standards.

Reason to Choose Us

What We Are Doing

How It Works

  • Integrates esterification (acid neutralization) and transesterification (oil-to-ester conversion) in one reactor.
  • Operates at 75–85°C under normal pressure.
  • Converts high free fatty acid (FFA) feedstocks such as used cooking oil, palm acid oil, fish oil, and even plant asphalt into premium biodiesel.

Advantages

  • 50% shorter production process compared to EU/US methods.
  • 20–30% lower production costs and 60% less energy consumption.
  • Feedstock-flexible: can process even low-value, high-impurity waste oils.
  • Safety optimized: no high-pressure risk, fewer explosion hazards, reduced methanol leakage.
  • Meets EN14214 (EU) and ASTM D6751 (US) standards; eligible for carbon credit schemes.

Applications

  • Marine biofuels: IMO 2020 sulfur-compliant blends (B24/B30).
  • Automotive biodiesel: B20–B100 blends for fleets.
  • Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): currently in scale-up trials.
  • Industrial fuels: boiler and generator applications.

Recognition

  • Adopted under China’s 15th National Science & Technology Key Project.
  • Certified as a National Key New Product by the Ministry of Science & Technology (2006).
  • Successfully piloted in multiple industrial-scale plants on the Mainland.

Looking forward, Lybonic envisions its future as a publicly listed green-tech leader on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, exporting circular economy technologies that can accelerate the global transition toward carbon neutrality.
